How Circle Weight is Calculated

The weight of a circle is calculated using the formula:

Weight = π × (Diameter/2)² × Length × Density

All dimensions are converted to millimeters for the calculation. The cross-sectional area (π × r²) is multiplied by the length to get volume, then multiplied by density for weight in kilograms.

Material Densities:

Mild Steel
7,850 kg/m³
Stainless Steel
7,900 kg/m³
PTFE (Teflon)
2,140 kg/m³
Aluminum
2,700 kg/m³
Brass
8,500 kg/m³
Copper
8,930 kg/m³
FRP (Fiberglass)
1,850 kg/m³
Titanium
4,500 kg/m³

Example:

For a Mild Steel round bar with:

  • Diameter: 50 mm
  • Length: 1000 mm
Radius = 50/2 = 25 mm
Area = π × 25² = 1,963.5 mm²
Volume = 1,963.5 × 1000 = 1,963,495 mm³ = 0.001963 m³
Weight = 0.001963 × 7,850 = 15.41 kg
